||Great Lakes Aircraft Company is pleased to announce the opening of a new Services Division providing Modification, Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul
of Great Lakes Airplanes.
Our craftsmen do it all: minor and major airframe repair, complete airframe recovering, annual inspection, pre-purchase inspection, engine repair/replacement, FAA airworthiness directive (AD) compliance, airframe rigging/improvements, and Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) equipment installation.
If your Great Lakes is not airworthy, we will disassemble it and transport it to our shop.
Why not consider installing a Warner engine on your Great Lakes? Many of the 1930s vintage Great Lakes were converted to Warner power, and the airframe/engine matchup is excellent. The smooth-running 165 horsepower Warner Super Scarab R-500 seven cylinder radial looks as if it belongs on a Great Lakes. Performance numbers are approximately the same as the Lycoming-powered Great Lakes.
Engine installation will be available once FAA approvals have been granted.
Price for the Warner R-500 Super Scarab engine installation via Supplemental Type Certificate and all hardware, firewall forward, including a zero time Warner engine, new Sensenich wooden propeller, new engine mount, new cowling, new intake and exhaust systems, and flight manual revisions: $47,500, slightly less if you exchange your existing firewall forward.
Visit our "Great Lakes Rumble" Web page about Warner engines.
Our Services Division is in the Colorado Springs, Colorado, area at Meadowlake Airport (KFLY), 38.9457N/104.5698W
