Why not consider installing a Warner engine on your Great Lakes? Many of the 1930s vintage Great Lakes were converted to Warner power, and the airframe/engine matchup is excellent. The smooth-running 165 horsepower Warner Super Scarab R-500 seven cylinder radial looks as if it belongs on a Great Lakes. Performance numbers are approximately the same as the Lycoming-powered Great Lakes.

If you currently own a Great Lakes and would like to replace the Lycoming AEIO-360 engine and propeller with a Warner R-500/165 HP radial, we would like to hear from you. The complete re-engine package includes a zero time since major overhaul Warner R-500/165 engine (175 hp for takeoff), new Sensenich wooden propeller, new engine cowling, new engine mount, new intake system, and new exhaust system. Price of the complete and installed firewall forward package is $64,500, slightly less if you wish to exchange your existing firewall forward hardware

'We are pleased to announce the acquisition of STC SA2368CE for the reinforcement of the upper wing center section. Because the fuel tank is part of the internal wing structure and carries aerodynamic loads, some Great Lakes have developed fuel leaks The purpose of this modification is to reduce drag/anti-drag loads carried through the fuel tank assembly thereby reducing the possibility of fuel leakage. Installation is recommended if a fuel leak is detected or during upper wing center section recover.

Installation of the wooden reinforcement hardware may be accomplished by a competent craftsman in your shop or in our facility. Once the center wing is removed and uncovered, approximately eight (8) additional manhours are required for installation. Pricing of $3,275 includes shipping in the lower 48 and includes everything required except one quart of adhesive.
